Southeast Asian central bankers are currently meeting in Bali in a forum called the Southeast Asia Central Banks (SEACEN) Meeting to discuss the recent financial issues in the region as well as in the world to better equip them in case of crisis.
Karunasena, Executive Director of The SEACEN Centre, said Thursday that the meeting aimed to provide platforms for policy makers in Southeast Asia to be updated on current issues.
“In the post-financial crisis, we are witnessing two certainties: One is the expectation of the central bank to strengthen its pursuit of financial stability and the other is a fundamental change in the financial regulatory landscape on a global scale,” he told attendants of the meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel in Jimbaran, Bali.
Regarding this, Karunasena added, discussions of a number of initiatives in various international forums need to be continued to reach general agreements. (est)
