Indonesia and Malaysia hold talks on cost structure for migrant workers in a bilateral meeting at Laguna Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali, today.
Central to the dicussion was cost structure, which is the amount of money that the government has to provide in order to keep sending migrant workers abroad.
Indonesia Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and Malaysia Foreign Minister Dato Sri Anifah Aman are to discuss the details of cost structure due to the most recent problems concerning migrant workers.
The two foreign ministers agreed that the migrant workers did not have to pay for the cost structure, as reported by metrotvnews.com.
Seven months ago, both countries had agreed that every migrant worker hold their own passport. As a result of today’s meeting, both countries agreed on allowing one day off per a week for domestic workers.
Malaysia's foreign minister promised to give full support to the Indonesian Consulate on providing every worker with legal support.
