The lesbian daughter of a Hong Kong tycoon whose offer of a dowry worth millions inspired a movie has written an open letter asking him to accept who she is after he reportedly raised the price to find her a husband.

The lesbian daughter of a Hong Kong tycoon whose offer of a dowry worth millions inspired a movie has written an open letter asking him to accept who she is after he reportedly raised the price to find her a husband.
In a letter
to Cecil Chao published on Wednesday by two Hong Kong newspapers, Gigi Chao
said she knew it was "difficult for you to understand, let alone
accept" how she could be romantically attracted to a woman.
But she
added that "it would mean the world to me if you could just not be so
terrified" of her partner.
The tycoon
made world headlines when he offered HK$500m (£39m/US$65m) to the man who could
successfully woo his daughter. A Malaysian newspaper reported last week that he
had doubled the offer.
