China hopes
that relevant parties will stick to the objective of the denuclearization of
the Korean Peninsula and work toward peace and stability in the region, a
Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday.
Spokesman
Hong Lei made the remarks at a press briefing in response to a question about
Choe Ryong Hae's recent visit to China as the special envoy of Kim Jong Un, top
leader of North Korea.
During
Choe's visit, Chinese leaders emphasized to him that China's stance on relevant
issues has been clear. No matter how the situation changes, relevant parties
should stick to the objective of denuclearization, safeguard peninsular peace
and stability, and resolve disputes and conflicts through dialogues and
consultations, Hong said.
Choe had
said North Korea will work with relevant parties to resolve related problems
through a variety of means, including six-party talks, and safeguard the peace
and stability of the peninsula, Hong said.
