Indonesian wants North Korea to abandon next month’s planned rocket launch, saying it will undermine peace and stability in the region.

Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa did not comment directly on concerns debris could land in Indonesian territory. But he said his country was keenly aware of all risks associated with the launch and would closely watch each of Pyongyang’s next steps.

North Korea says the rocket will be launched to mark the centennial of the communist nation’s founder and to put an observation satellite into space.

Many nations, however, view it as a cover for testing long-range missile technology, in violation of a UN ban.
