JOHOR BARU - FLOOD waters have cut off links to a number of towns in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Malacca and Sabah, in a repeat of the major floods of 2006.

More than 46,000 people, mostly in Johor, have been forced to seek shelter in evacuation centres as more rain is expected this week.
Thousands of commuters going back to their hometowns for the Chinese New Year holidays were hampered by floods on trunk roads and a section of the North-South Expressway.
Floods and landslides also forced Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) to cancel several train services to the east and south.
A KTM statement said that among the affected services were Ekspress Rakyat connecting KL Sentral and Singapore, and Ekspress Sinaran Timur connecting Kuala Lipis and Singapore.
The worst-hit state was Johor, which saw 42,300 people from Segamat, Muar, Kota Tinggi, Kluang and Ledang evacuated. Another 1,921 people were evacuated in Negeri Sembilan. -- THE STAR/ANN, REUTERS, BERNAMA
