Alcatel to pay over $137 million to settle bribery case

(Reuters) - Alcatel Lucent SA has agreed to pay more than $137 million to settle U.S. charges that it paid millions of dollars in bribes to foreign officials to win business in Latin America and Asia, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said on Monday.

Alcatel agreed to pay more than $45 million to settle the SEC's charges and another $92 million to settle criminal bribery charges from the U.S. Justice Department.
