Kendari (ANTARA News) - Five migrant workers from Dunggua village, Konawe regency, Southeast Sulawesi, had been raped in Saudi Arabia and still lacked attention from the companies which had sent them.
Three of the raped victims still had small children in their home towns, head of the Southeast Sulawesi Women Advocacy Division Susianti Kamil said here Monday.
Susianti said the rape took place in the 2008-2010 period, but still no protection from the government or from the companies which had sent them.
She said one of the victims was AY (25), who had been raped by her employer and therefore had a child now.
In 2005, AY went to Saudi Arabia with the sponsorship of PT Momenson Sejahtera in Jakarta. Her wages was never paid for 27 months. And she was often roughly handled by her employer, including rape, and consequently had a baby.
