Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s proposal to promote micro, small and medium enterprises as the backbone of ASEAN countries` economies was included in the final resolutions of an ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Arief Budimanto, a member of the Indonesian delegation to the AIPA meeting, said in a press statement received here on Friday, another Indonesian proposal incorporated in the meeting`s resolutions was on the need for measures to sustain ASEAN`s economic stability following the recent economic and financial crises.
A third Indonesian idea adopted by the conference was the need to appreciate and protect migrant workers from ASEAN member countries.
The Indonesian proposals were approved because the AIPA meeting`s partcipants held their discussions in a spirit of togetherness, he said.
The 31th AIPA General Assembly was closed officially on Friday, (Sept 24) after it named Cambodia as host for the next AIPA meeting.
The meeting was held September 20-24, 2010 in Hanoi, Vietnam and attended by parliamentary delegations from ASEAN`s 10 member countries, eight observers, representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat and AIPA Secretariat. Indonesia had sent a delegation led by House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Marzuki Alie.
