Nine partially naked Indonesian women dancing the poco-poco as they were fondled sexually by drunken men have been arrested by police in Kuala Lumpur, according to Malaysian media.

The Star online was quick to point out that the North Sulawesi dance, which is now popular as a dance exercise, had “been turned into an erotic performance by an entertainment center eager to lure customers.”

The strategy had been working. Malay-language newspaper Harian Metro reported the venue had been popular among locals since it opened six months ago.

The Star reported that police raided the unnamed nightspot in Taman Melawati where women dressed in skimpy outfits allegedly allowed clients to grope them.

“During the raid, nine Indonesian dancers were seen dressed in sexy attire, baring their breasts and dancing erotically while allowing themselves to be groped by the men,” The Star quoted Shahrom Maarop, strategic and planning assistant deputy with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, as saying.

The raid, he said, was based on a tip off that Muslims were openly consuming alcohol and indulging in vice, adding that the dim lighting set the mood for those who wished to indulge their lust after consuming alcohol.

In total nine men and 13 women were arrested, The Star reported. The nine Indonesians were aged between 22 and 35.
