Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA News) - Malaysian police have successfully dismantled an Indonesian passport forging syndicate in the Kajang area, Selangor state, and arrested an Indonesian suspect.
Kajang police chief Sakaruddin Che Mood said the police during their patrol saw a 35-year-old man acting suspiciously in the Kajang on Friday at about 2:30 pm local time. Seeing the police, the man suddenly threw away his bag and then fled, Antara learned here Saturday.
But the police pursued and finally arrested the man who was an Indonesian citizen. The discarded bag contained 19 fake Indonesian green passports.
After conducting an interrogation, a squad of police launched a raid on a 2-story house.
The house was empty but police found six false Indonesian passports, 53 photos of 4x6 size, stamps of the Malaysian home affairs ministry, of the Malaysian immigration, and the immigration stamps of some Malaysia states.
It was learned the syndicate members sold the false passports for 150 Malaysian ringgit or 400,000 rupiah each.
Indonesian illegal migrant workers were the main market of the false green passports.
The illegals need the false passports to evade arrest during sudden immigration checks.
The Malaysian police will continue to explore the Indonesian passports forgery network.
