Route to link three Asean countries

BangkokPost.com,  7/03/2009 at 03:39 PM

Thailand, Laos and Vietnam will jointly open a highway for trucks in June, a senior official at the Transport Ministry said Saturday.

The road is aimed to facilitating low-cast freight transportation, said Land Transport Department director-general Chairat Sa-nguansue.

The 500-kilometre route will link Thailand's northeastern province of Mukdahan with Laos' Suvannakhet city and its Dansavan trade zone, and Vietnam's Laobao.

Truck drivers who will take the route are advised to take driving lesson to be held in Mukdahan in April as the driving systems in the three countries are not the same, Mr Chairat added.
