Medan, N Sumatra, (ANTARA News) - Imported food, beverages, and medicinal herbs from Malaysia, Thailand, China and Singapore, accounted for the vast majority findings of the Drugs and Food Supervisory Agency (POM) in its recent raid of superannuated products.
"Last year, for instance, Medan`s POM found and destroyed food imported from Thailand and Malaysia, in addition to cosmetics from Singapore and Thailand, which are detrimental to health," Head of Medan`s POM Supriyanto Utomo said here Friday.
He also said that many locally produced food and goods lacked universally accepted standards and therefore need to be controlled, he said.
