KOTA KINABALU, March 20 (Bernama) -- Brunei and Sabah have agreed to undertake joint promotions on tourism, through the Royal Brunei Airline's (RBA) network globally.
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said Sabah acknowledged RBA's contribution in bringing tourists to Sabah, especially from Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.
"During my just-concluded visit to Brunei, I met Brunei's Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Datuk Seri Lim Jock Seng, who is also chairman of RBA.
"A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Sabah Tourism Board and RBA which lists out the need for both sides to work closely and identify areas in which both could collaborate for mutual benefits.
"We would like to enhance this collaboration by finding ways and means in which we can bring in more tourists from Australia and even from Indonesia via Brunei," he told reporters after launching pewter-making company Royal Selangor's School of Hard Knocks Pewtersmithing Workshop at 1Borneo Hypermall here today.
Masidi said RBA would also consider adding daily flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kota Kinabalu when there was an increase in demand.
"We were made to understand that they (RBA) have over 10 aircraft and have plans to increase their fleet. Obviously, it is going to benefit Sabah," he added.
