The Malaysian Maritime Agency on Sunday arrested seven Indonesian and 17 Vietnamese sailors for illegally mining iron ore in Tanjung Ayam, Johor Baru, Antara reported on Monday.
Head of the agency, first admiral Che Hassan Jusoh, said the sailors were using two Vietnam-made ships, the Quoc Tu Giam and Bot Tunda Berlian, for their illegal mining operation in the area.
“They do not have any legal permits or pay taxes to authorities,” he said. (ewd)
